Ravi Bopara’s 60 in this game provide the 17th instance of an England opening batsman registering a half century against India and the 72nd instance of an England batsmen registering a half century against India.
Harbhajan Singh became the 30th bowler to capture 200-plus ODI wickets. He is the sixth Indian bowler to achieve the distinction. The other five are Anil Kumble (337), Javagal Srinath (315), Ajit Agarkar (288), Kapil Dev (253) and Zaheer Khan (214). Harbhajan’s 200th victim was Owais Shah, caught by Zaheer Khan for 40.
With Virender Sehwag’s wicket in this game Andrew Flintoff earned the record for most wickets in India-England one-day series. It was his 36th wicket against India, passing Javagal Srinath's landmark of 35.
With two stumpings to his credit, MS Dhoni now has now an aggregate of 40 stumping dismissals. Other wicket keepers to effect 40-plus stumpings in ODIs are Rumesh Kaluwitharna (75), Moin Khan (73), Kumar Sangakkara (60), Adam Gilchrist (55) and Nayan Mongia (44).
In this series, England has been bowled out in all the three games, the second time they have been all out in three consecutive games against India. The earlier occasion was in 2005-06 series. At Faridabad, Margao and at Kochi.
Dhoni took his aggregate of dismissals against England to 26 to become the first wicket keeper in India-England ODIs to have 25-plus dismissals (19 catches and seven stumpings). His 19 catches against England is also a series record. Matt Prior of England has 18 catches to his credit.
Dhoni became the first Indian wicket keeper to effect 25-plus dismissals against four specific oppositions – Sri Lanka (33), Australia (28), England (26) and Pakistan (25). By effecting 26 dismissals against England, he went past Nayan Mongia who had 25 plus dismissals against three specific oppositions – New Zealand (36), Pakistan (29) and Sri Lanka (25).
Harbhajan Singh for India and Andrew Flintoff had identical figures of 3-31 in this game, providing the second instance of rival bowlers having identical figures of 3-31 in the history of ODIs. The other instance was Shaun Pollock of South Africa and Darren Gough of England at Johannesburg in 1996.
