 Talent hunt
Tasting bittersweet success in the DLF Indian Premier League (IPL), the Delhi Daredevils started off the tournament in style, began to lose their way mid-way in the series but showed some tough resilience towards the end to finish at the fourth semi-final spot.

Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag are famous Twenty20 assassins but it was Shikhar Dhawan who showed good determination coming in at one down. He always made it a point to cover up for any of his openers' departure and played the perfect role of a team anchor who could accelerate the scoring rate when required.

Yo Mahesh was another such 'diamond in the rough' for Delhi. He failed to let the stardom of veterans like Glenn McGrath overpower him and regularly picked up wickets in each of his matches. Amit Mishra also showed some good potential with the second best bowling figures in an IPL game when he scalped 4 Hyderabad wickets for 17 runs, a spell that included a hat-trick.

Biggest Disappointment
Glenn McGrath is one of the old warhorses of the game. But unlike other players his age who seem to be proving their worth with each passing game, he has not taken too many scalps in the IPL and his economical run rate is the only thing saving him for being branded as a 'forgettable' bowler.

Bugbear
The only flaw Delhi can take away from the tournament was that their middle order seemed to lack intensity. When their opening order fell out, the middle order normally followed suit without putting up too much of a resistance.

Standout Performance
Gautam Gambhir at 523 runs is the second highest run scorer of the IPL. Given his reputation in the shortest format of the game, he is fast living up to his sobriquet as the 'Bradman of T20'.

Trivia
1. The Daredevils are the only team in the IPL to score 5 partnerships in excess of 100.

2. All their 100+ partnerships have come from either two of three batsmen in Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan.

3. Virender Sehwag has hit 21 sixes in the tournament, the third highest in the IPL and has the second best strike rate of the IPL at 186.57.
