All about Sohail Tanvir

Sohail Tanvir today won the 'Purple Cap' for becoming the leading wicket taker in the tournament; he now has 21 wickets to his name from nine appearances in the DLF Indian Premier League (IPL). Incredible performance, considering the wickets have come at the rate of 2.3 wickets per match - clearly the best among all bowlers in the tournament.

Despite joining the Royals' ranks only for their fourth match in the tournament, Tanvir is now three wickets clear of the erstwhile 'Purple Cap' holder S Sreesanth, who bagged 18 wickets from 13 matches in the competition.

The things that impress most about this lanky Pakistan seamer are:

When he picks wickets, he gets them in heaps. Off the nine matches that Tanvir has played, he's picked up three wickets or more, on as many as five occasions. Here's a look at his performance in all the matches he's played so far:

Tanvir's unusual bowling action hasn't made things easy for batsmen. Not too many batsmen, however experienced, have managed to successfully score off him. His most expensive outing in this tournament was his spell against the Deccan Chargers, when he leaked 39 runs off his four overs.
Tanvir has been an invaluable addition to the Royals' ranks, not only for his wicket-taking ability, but also for his miserly ways with the ball - his economy rate of 5.97 is the best among regular bowlers in the IPL. Here's a comparison of his economy rate against the combined economy rate of the other bowlers in the Royals' team in their matches so far:

A lot has been said and written about Shane Warne's captaincy, and how each of his wards have stood and delivered when presented with an opportunity - Sohail Tanvir's case was certainly a case of rising to the occasion.

Sohail Tanvir is awesome, the last local tourney he played in Pakistan. he experimented alot of new deliveries and i think thats the result of those experiments that he has come up with some more deliveries in his bucket.

Suhail Tanvir bowled very well througout the tournament.It's a big achivement to become a highest wicket taker.Pakistani players's performances were very bad in the Ipl except Umer Gul.They were underestimated but Sohail bowled well and his confidence will be very high when he returns home and play for Pakistan.

Another Rawalpindi born Pakistani bowler has done a wonderful job producing best bowling figures of the tournament and taken 21 wickets in just 9 appearances. Great performance keep it up

Sohail has shown what he is capable of in T20 world cup. He is a cool customer. He sticks to basics and does things in style. His controlled aggression makes him a great death over bowler. His unorthodox action is an added advantage, As it takes few balls for any top batsman to get adjusted to his line. All the best to Tanveer. When i saw his first match against in t20 world cup at that time only i was became fan to him.
My favorite ball of all time is WASIM BHAI, ALLAN DONALD& MC GRATH but now ibecame fan of sohail. In future he will take more wickets than any of my favorites & i will pray for him to allah. thanks to yahoo for giving me this oppertunity to share my comments thank's.
One thing if he will be sucess in semi's& finals the RR become champs of IPL T20.

The best thing i like about sohail tanvir is, after taking wicket whether the player is icon or ordinary he doesnt show any aggression towards that player.He simply takes a deep breadth of relief from him for his team.

Arey Sohail Tanvir is an undoubtedly gud wicket taker bt acc.2 me Shoib Akhtar cud've taken evn more wickets if he had played in all the IPL matches........

first time i saw sohaile tanveer in my village hassan wali.he played tape ball cricket match there and he often ball yorker there.
that time i dont know that i hit a sixer to the future of pakistan but know i feel proud to hit him 3 sixex in over.sohail is an orignal pride of pakistan.
