Exclusive Interview with Anupama Verma

Among the many celebrities we encountered at the DLF Indian Premier League (IPL), we also ran into Anupama Verma, who is a well-known model and part of the television and film industries. She talks to us about cricket, the IPL fever

Anupama, you are at the second semi-final of the IPL T20. How have you enjoyed yourself so far?
Yeah, it's very good. I am having a blast. The whole cricket ambience is very good and it's a good experience.

You're an entertainer yourself. But right now, the cricketers are doing all the entertainment. So how does it feel to be on the other side for a change?
I think, that's the whole fun about this format, where you're laidback and you're enjoying yourself for a change and that's fantastic. Today Mohali hasn't done too well but it's still going to be fun to watch and just follow the spirit of the game.

Who is your favourite cricketer?
Yuvraj Singh is my favourite cricketer. Also, he is a very good friend.

How much does Anupama know about cricket?
Well, I am quite aware about the game because I come from a family that loves cricket. My father is a die-hard cricket fanatic, so I am representing basically the entire Verma clan and not just myself.

What do you feel about cricket and entertainment coming together? What do you feel about the new T20 format? Does making cricket more entertaining work?
Cricket is a religion in India and cricket is bigger than entertainment in India for sure. And the second closest to cricket in India is Bollywood. And getting them together, there is nothing better.

Talking about your own career, what's in line for you? Give us a glimpse...
Well, I have a couple of films lined up. One just released last week, and I am also doing a couple of plays. I have my own production house that I manage, so my hands are full.

Who do you think is the hottest cricketer alive?
Oh well, I think there are a couple of them actually that I like. In the Indian lot, I think Yuvraj is pretty good and he is also a friend. Irfan Pathan is also cute. And among the foreign teams, I think Shane Watson is pretty cool.
